Electrode Care Tips

Prep your skin.

Wash and dry your forehead before each treatment. Use basic soap, not alcohol wipes or facial cleansers. Don't apply moisturizers or makeup.

Handle by the edge.

Wash your hands before applying the electrode.

Recline or lie down.

To keep the electrode in place, recline during your treatment. Don't move around.

Keep it fresh.

When you remove an electrode after treatment, replace it on the plastic backing, adhesive side down. Then, seal it in the electrode pouch.

Add water.

A few drops of tap water may gently rehydrate an electrode and help it stay usable longer.

My husband has been through

"My husband has been through pills, injections, botox, nasal injections, and regular IV infusions. Also there were MANY trips to the ER for DHE. DHE is an old medication for migraines that they have quit providing. He also had forehead and base of the skull surgeries to untangle the mangled nerves. After over 20 years of suffering he finally has something that gives him some relief. God Bless you."

So far, it's been OK.

"So far, it's been OK. I have to keep my phone on my chest or it disconnects. It has even disconnected a couple times even that close. I was frustrated for the longest time because it would automatically start the acute setting after connecting to my phone when I wanted to do the daily setting. I haven't had noticeable changes yet but am hopefull."

I have had my Cefaly

"I have had my Cefaly about a month now. I have used it on both modes. I use it on the Prevent mode every evening, and on the Acute mode when I have a migraine. Right now, it takes about 2 Acute sessions to get rid of my migraine, along with some migraine meds. However, it already seems like my migraines are less severe. I am using it in conjunction with Emgality injections, Occipital Nerve Blocks and Botox injections. So far, I feel very positive about it! The coaching session really helped me to get started with it. And, I have reached out to my Customer Service Rep on several occasions with follow up questions. She is always quick to respond and has been a great resource!"

Don't believe their "coaches. "

"Living with migraines is very difficult. I've had surgery, nerve blocks, injections, infusions. I've tried every new medication, and decades of neurologists trying everything. When I noticed the 90 day garaunte, I spoke to their "coaches" about returning the device. The last "coach" I spoke with offered to extend my "warranty" 60 more days. I accepted. I shouldn't have been surprised when the last "coach" said there wasn't anything noted on my account. If you really feel like buying a Cefaly device. Pick one up on Ebay. That's where I'm trying to sell mine."

The treatment feels good. It

"The treatment feels good. It hasn’t stopped migraine yet. The Bluetooth is terrible. I can’t go more than a foot away and it disconnects. I wanted to use the logs, so i can do it manually, but no logs for my doctor. Even within 1 foot it says weakened connection."

Q&A

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Both standard and hypoallergenic electrodes can be reused as long as the electrode adheres well to the skin on the forehead. The number of uses varies from person to person. Standard electrodes typically provide more uses than hypoallergenic.

  • • Gel dried out, dirty, cracked, or clumping
    • Edges curl up when applying to skin
    • Doesn’t stay in place when attached to Cefaly
    • Stimulation feels different or causes discomfort

If you notice any of these, replace your electrode. Look at section 2.5 of your user manual for more information about electrode care.

  • We recommend the hypoallergenic electrodes for anyone with a known acrylate allergy, or who experiences an allergic reaction (rash) on the forehead after using standard electrodes.

Please note that the skin under the electrode may appear red or blotchy after a treatment session. This effect is normal, and is caused by increased local blood flow to the skin. Usually it disappears within 15 minutes.

If a temporary rash develops on the forehead, this can mean you have an allergy to the electrode. If this should occur, stop using Cefaly until the rash disappears, which may take a few days. The use of an anti-inflammatory cream can accelerate the disappearance of the rash. Try using hypoallergenic electrodes instead, and contact your doctor or CEFALY Technology if you have any questions.
